About Handling Zodiaq

If you are a shop that works with Zodiaq material you may already know much of the information in this article. And if you are setting up a new shop and plan on working with Zodiaq this is information that you will most certainly need to know since it relates to engineered quartz equipment. In this article we will talk about some of the material handling equipment that is needed to work with Zodiaq and how it makes your daily work easier.

Material Handling: What is Involved?

When people think of material handling for Zodiaq, different things might come to mind. Someone might think of unloading a truck that has Zodiaq products on it. Someone else might have in mind the thought of lifting Zodiaq slabs onto a fixture for work. And still others may see in their mind's eye a storage rack with slabs of Zodiaq loaded on it. And in fact, all of these are actually examples of material handling.

Storing Zodiaq Products

As we have already mentioned, there are facets to material handling and one of those facets is storage. This is because there are cases where a Zodiaq slab needs to be stored for a period of time before it is used. When this is the case, a rack for storing Zodiaq is sometimes used to server that purpose. Having the material on hand and then being able to use it when needed is very practical.

Zodiaq Transport Equipment

Fabrication shops require a number of pieces of equipment to operate smoothly. One of those is a two side a frame Zodiaq cart or similar product. Why is that the case? Well, the easiest way to say it is that it makes the work easier and smoother by allowing the Zodiaq slabs to be moved on a fixture rather than without one. Some of the transport carts can have casters (wheels) added to them so they can be loaded and rolled. Whether you are using a rolling cart in the shop or an a-frame along a wall of the delivery van, these units are practical.

Unloading & Loading Zodiaq

Zodiaq, like other kinds of materials used for surfaces is lifted multiple times thorughout the fabrication process. Loading a Zodiaq slab onto a machine or truck as well as removing the same slab from those machines takes not only power, but also the ability to hold the slab. There are several machines available for lifting Zodiaq slabs as well as other materials. One such machine is a jumbo wide grip lifter for wide materials. There are others too. The idea is use a piece of gear that will get ahold of the slab and not let go until the operator wants it to. In the end working with Zodiaq is like working with any natural stone or other engineered quartz surface. It can be awkward and challenging to lift, position, load and unload. But having the proper equipment to handle it makes the work much easier to perform.
