About Handling Quantra

Although Quantra is a man made material it shares a number of traits with natural stone surfaces. Whether you are working with it in a fabrication shop or are taking it to an installation site, you will no doubt have to handle Quantra more than once. This means using engineered quartz equipment. In this article we are going to explore some of the equipment that is used to transport, position, and maneuver Quantra material.

How is Material Handling Defined?

Are you wondering what material handling entails? Discussing material handling and Quantra products in depth would take quite a bit of time. But let's look at just three facets of Quantra material handling. 1) moving Quantra slabs, 2) loading and unloading them, and 3) storing them in a warehouse or slab yard. These aspects of material handling apply to any natural or man made product that exists in slab form; including Quantra.

Equipment for Storing Quantra

Slabs in fabrication shops can sometimes sit for a period of time before they are used for creating a surface. That is where the storage aspect of material handling comes in. Quantra slabs need to be kept somewhere when they are not being used. Fabricators make use of a Quantra hippo slab rack to keep the slabs in until they are ready to use them.

Transporting Quantra

If workers in the fabrication shop were given an option of how to transport Quantra slabs, many would likely choose to use a piece of equipment like a short double side Quantra cart because it makes the work load lighter in a sense. Being able to use a cart to transport slabs of Quantra across the warehouse or shop is practical. And having an a frame rack in a work van can provide a measure of stability during transport.

Unloading & Loading Quantra

Fabricators are always lifting slabs onto and off of machines, tables, saws, etc. And the slabs they are loading and unloading from these various locations are not light. That's why there are lifting machines of various kinds for loading Quantra slabs and unloading them. One of the machines used for this is a wide grip jumbo lifting clamp. There are others too. The idea though is that this machine is able to hold the slab so that it can be lifted. In conclusion, having the proper material handling equipment for managing Quantra products is not really all that different from what you would need to handle natural stone surfaces. Like any engineered quartz, working with Quantra takes various products that are designed to lift, transport, and load large slabs of product.
